Gavin McMillan’s leadership at Hargreaves Jones is deeply embedded in the firm’s award-winning projects and on-going practice in the United States and abroad. Mr. McMillan has a particular focus in the transformation of post-industrial landscapes, the integration of resilient urban ecology and hydrology into public space, and the application of innovative sustainable design and construction principals. Projects that exemplify his design leadership include 21st Century Waterfront and Renaissance Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Louisville Waterfront Park in Louisville, Kentucky; and the Riverfront Revitalization Plan & Cumberland Park in Nashville, Tennessee. He has directed the firm’s innovative planning and sustainable construction of large-scale event landscapes, including the Sydney 2000 Olympics in Australia; the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, UK; and The Commons in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was co-author of “Landscapes & Gardens”, which features the firm’s smaller scale work and celebrates the power of landscape and gardens to impact our everyday lives.

Mr. McMillan holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and Bachelor of Science from the Queensland Institute of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and frequently writes and speaks on landscape and urban design issues.
