SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY LIFE SCIENCES COMPLEX

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK

The Syracuse Life Sciences Complex landscape transforms existing parking lots into a campus open space. Parallel landforms cross the site diagonally, aligned with the regional drumlin field. Their pattern and linearity relate to the program of the building through an allusion to microscopic views of cellular structure. The landforms divert and channel runoff across the site to planting and infiltration trenches to reduce off site storm loads. Bands of single species planting resonate with greenhouse plantings positioned on the new building roof.
