UNIVERSITY OF UTAH MASTER PLAN
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
Hargreaves Associates worked with SOM on the University of Utah Master Plan, which provides a long range, implementable plan for the growth of this 1500-acre, 30,000 student campus. A winner of the 2010 SCUP Merit Award, the master plan vision is focused on key enhancements that will transform a commuter-centric campus into one that supports all aspects of campus life. New academic infill buildings, a Student Life Center, centrally located athletic facilities, and open spaces are knit together to improve the social heart of the campus.
The Master Plan supports the University's goal of fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and interaction, and also features the campus as a destination for the public, with improvements in functional and sustainable transportation. Hargreaves Associates is working with the University to capitalize on its dramatic natural setting at the base of the Wasatch Mountains, design open spaces that provide a connective fabric for campus life, and integrate campus-wide sustainability measures, helping fulfill the University of Utah’s desire to take on leadership in environmental stewardship.
