Hargreaves Associates developed a Master Plan for the transformation of the mile and a half long corridor of Pennsylvania Avenue SE, one of the most recognized and important streets in the world. The purpose is to increase local neighborhood livability and economic development by improving the physical, economic and safety condition of the corridor and create a new environment that invites private investment and neighborhood pride. This Initiative is a multidisciplinary approach to corridor improvement, comprised of public realm investments, strategic land use plans, public safety strategies, and economic development assistance. Extensive public outreach assured that residents and business owners ideas were integrated into the master plan.
