New office, retail, and residential development surround the renovated Union Station, where multiple modes of transportation converge, including new bus, light rail, and passenger rail facilities. The public realm ties the district together, further facilitating connectivity, including promenades and streetscapes, plazas, urban gardens, and expanded bike facilities. Significant new destination public spaces include Wynkoop Plaza with its interactive civic fountain, tree groves and outdoor dining sites; the 17th Street Promenade and Gardens built atop the below-grade bus terminal; and the Light Rail Plaza, which serves as a portal landscape for the 1000’s of daily riders who arrive at this downtown site. This substantial public investment has catalyzed an unprecedented wave of private-sector activity, with over $1 billion in new projects shaping a transit-oriented precinct and new urban neighborhood.
