The park site connects to downtown via Wilmington’s iconic Riverwalk, while new boardwalk connections extend over a dynamic living shoreline. The sculpted landscape engages the water, pulling the coastal marsh ecology into the site, while lifted lawns and plazas offer spectacular views to the river. Urban gardens, play, and a water feature animate an arcing promenade. As both an everyday regional park and venue for concerts and civic festivals, the park is a uniquely flexible open space, and was honored to receive the Waterfront Alliance’s WEDG (Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines) Verification, the gold standard for resilient, ecologically sound, and accessible waterfront design.
